What is this course?
Music Technology 101 is a short, focused course designed to introduce young people to the basics of music production and recording in a relaxed, supportive environment. It is ideal for young people who are curious about how music is made and want to explore creative music making beyond traditional instrument lessons. No previous experience is required.
Who is it for?
Young people interested in recording music, podcasting or creating audio at home
Young people aged 10+ (please get in touch by email if younger but has existing interest or experience to discuss further)
Suitable for complete beginners. No previous musical knowledge or technical ability is required
Great for creative learners who enjoy hands on activities and technology
What will students be learning and doing?
Across the four weeks, students will be gently guided through the process of creating and recording music, helping them understand how songs are actually made and what happens behind the scenes in a real studio environment.
By the end of the course, students will have a clear sense of how music production works, feel confident using basic recording tools and - most importantly - understand whether this is an area of music they'd like to explore further.
The aim isn't perfection or performance, but confidence, curiosity, collaboration and giving young people a positive first experience of music technology that they can build on at their own pace or in longer more in depth courses.
The price is for a 4 week block of workshops ran on the following dates and times. Once purchased the time location and time slot are booked for students and a waitlist will be available to any who miss out on registering for this run.
There are two time slots available. Once you choose that will be the time slot for all 4 sessions at your chosen venue as places are limited. Slots are 90 mins and run from 16:45 - 18:15 or 18:30 - 20:00
